There are over 1.3B kids in K-12 in the developing world where many lack access to products that can help them improve their creativity, problem solving and computer literacy - all critical skills to be gainfully employed in the 21st century. We have witnessed this first hand during 4 trips to orphanages in Asia where we conducted STEM/robotics camps and discovered that these kids while smart desperately lack hands-on science and engineering related learning to complement their rote learning in school. We believe we can provide a comprehensive educational experience that is vastly superior to any other alternative for the following reasons: a) it is much more affordable, b) it enables kids to exercise their creativity by letting them build robots that use items sourced from their local environment (e.g. a water bottle, etc.), c) the usage of open source hardware and software platforms that are significantly further in the cost curve and have global adoption, and d) it provides a structured curriculum that employs an engineering process. Given the large addressable global market, a differentiated approach and strong positive traction, we believe we have made the first steps in building an exciting educational technology startup with a global impact.
