At Sixup, we believe that the college financing system is broken and want to help fix it. Many of us were high-achieving, low-income immigrants and the first in our families to go to college. We took Pell Grants and maxed out on Federal student loans. But there was still a gap between all our federal aid and private scholarships, and the total we were expected to pay for school. We got through it, but many did not and still don’t.
We created Sixup to support the low-income, high-achieving students who traditionally are overlooked and need more help. Who now make up a growing portion of our population and are becoming an even larger percentage of our future workforce. Sixup offers a holistic approach to investing in these students with responsible, affordable college loans and a suite of wrap-around services designed to upgrade students to schools with better outcomes, then support them through graduation and job creation.
